OUR STORY
In 2009, our founder, Theresa Yanni, visited Tanzania for the first time to meet a child she had been sponsoring through Compassion International. What began as a heartfelt connection with a young girl turned into a deep love for Tanzania and its people. Over the years, as she continued to support her sponsored child and added two more boys to her Compassion family, Theresa’s bond with the country grew stronger. By 2021, after several visits, including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Theresa made the life-changing decision to move to Tanzania and establish G.O.A.L.S. (Girls Overcoming All Limitations Soar).
G.O.A.L.S. was born from Theresa’s passion to make a difference in the lives of young girls and their families, ensuring they have the opportunities and support to thrive. Today, almost two years later, G.O.A.L.S. is transforming lives in the Moshi community, offering hope, empowerment, and a brighter future.
Our Mission & Vision
Mission:
At G.O.A.L.S., our mission is to empower young girls by providing access to education, essential resources, and a safe environment where they can thrive. We believe in breaking the cycle of poverty by supporting not just the girls, but also their families, helping to create a nurturing and sustainable community.
Vision:
We envision a world where every girl, regardless of her background, has the opportunity to reach her full potential. Through education, community support, and economic empowerment, we strive to build a future where young girls can overcome all limitations and soar to new heights.
What We Do
Sponsoring Girls:
We provide sponsorships for girls whose families cannot afford to send them to school. This support covers school fees, uniforms, books, and meals, ensuring that each girl has the resources she needs to succeed in her education.
Supporting Families:
Understanding that a child’s environment greatly impacts her ability to learn and grow, we also extend our support to the families of the girls. This includes assistance with housing, food, and creating safe spaces for the girls to study and thrive.
Community Center & Café/Gift Shop:
We are building a Community Center that will be a hub for learning, creativity, and empowerment. The first floor will feature a carpentry workshop, a craft room, and a kitchen, providing practical skills training and a space for community activities. The second floor will host a daycare, playroom, and library, offering a safe and enriching environment for children.
Our Café and Gift Shop will serve as a meeting place and a showcase for the talents of local women, offering unique desserts, including those from Theresa’s Italian heritage, and handcrafted items. Profits will go back into supporting the community and helping women earn a livable wage
